Day Trips in Monaco

Monaco's tiny size means you won't need to spend all your time within its borders. Trust me, it’s worth stepping out to see how the French Riviera spreads its charm just beyond the principality. I often escape the hustle of Monte Carlo for a few hours,it’s just a short train or car ride to places like Èze, with its steep cobbled streets and that crazy panoramic view of the coastline, or Cap-Ferrat where the villas seem to touch the sea.

And if you’re up for something different, take the bus up to La Turbie to check out the Trophy of Augustus, a Roman monument that’s an impressive sight and usually not crowded. In spring, the smell of wild rosemary hits you as you hike little trails around there,totally worth it. I’ll admit, many visitors stick to Monaco itself but the region’s narrow roads and seaside routes make for some seriously good day trips. Oh, and by the way, grab a coffee at a local café in Beaulieu-sur-Mer before heading back,you’ll find the pace there a little slower and the people friendlier, which is sometimes exactly what you need after a big day of exploring.
